ElastoSens™ Bio – Contactless mechanical analysis of soft biomaterials

Rheolution has been at the forefront on providing soft matter analytics. The ElastoSens™ Bio technology platform offers an easy to use, highly efficient and versatile system for providing pertinent information on the mechanical characterization of biomaterials and medical devices for R&D applications, quality control and process control in the field of Life Sciences.

ElastoSens™ Bio uses vibrations to obtain non-destructive contactless viscoelastic measurements of soft matter. The viscoelasticity of biomaterials is calculated using multiple end point parameters such as, G’ (Shear storage modulus), G’’ (Shear loss modulus), tan δ (Loss tangent), Rate (Pa/s), Height (mm).

Applications

  • 3D cell culture: Formulation of various scaffolds for biocompatibility of soft materials to provide robust assay systems
  • Tissue engineering: To measure mechanical properties of engineered tissues and monitor any changes during culture time
  • 3D Bioprinting: To  measure viscoelasticity of biomaterials
  • Drug Delivery: For precise and long term mechanical evaluation of drug delivery systems
  • Preclinical utility:
    • R&D applications for providing superior quantitative data to better investigate blood coagulation.
    • To study the effect of medication on blood coagulation
    • Superabsorbant polymers: Assessing bulk mechanical properties of Superabsorbent polymers (SAP)
